Why Newry needs the Albert Basin Park?

"Newry City remains the only City in Ireland that does not have a City Park."

By reclaiming this rundown area in the centre of our City and developing it into a state-of-the-art City Centre Park, Newry City will demonstrate that it is a progressive and vibrant City, willing to take the lead in urban regeneration in the 21st century.

Although Newry has a proud history of dynamic neighbourhood community organisations,it could be argued that the City as a whole needs to assert its unique identity.

A new Albert Basin Park would address this issue by creating a new shared space for all the people of Newry - regardless of background, age or ability and would reconnect the community through lifestyle, sport, arts, heritage, culture and the natural environment.

Get Involved and Help turn the Albert Basin Park Project into a Reality.
